I have a 2003 Honda Pilot that for the past two years the "Check Engine" light has been on. I've taken it to multiple mechanics and shops and no one has been able to figure it out and fix the problem. I finally took it to Steve's and Randy was able to diagnose and quickly resolve the issue. I explained my history with other mechanics and my skepticism that the problem could ever be fixed. He understood my hesitancy and was very patient and helpful in explaining to me what the problem was, what the solution was, and assured me every step of the way that the solution would resolve the issue. Now it drives better, quieter, and smoother than it ever has, and the "Check Engine" light has stayed off. While the solution was more expensive than I preferred, I can't argue or complain about the result. You get what you pay for, and I'm very satisfied with the work they did and the manner in which it was done. I will be bringing my vehicles back to Steve's and I recommend others do as well.

John, we're so glad we were able to help resolve the issue with your Honda and we appreciate your review and recommendation, thank you!

It all started when madi answered the phone, shes the best. The customer service started right there. This place takes care of you and they make sure to give you all of your options. After a single visit, I was hooked. I even upgraded to car care club and they let me use the 10% off service at the time of purchase. Basically, I got 4 oil changes for $50 bucks. Do the math. I live in Park City and I still drive down here to get my car serviced.

We think Madi's the best too JD, but you know that without great clients like you none of that would matter, so thank you for your trust and confidence!

The service was amazing. They were very well informed. They have a great toy area where my little one was able to play and not get bored while waiting for my car. They provided drinks for us while we waited. I loved that they did a toy drive to help those who are in need during the holiday season. I came to this location for convenience today but I absolutely love the Clearfield location also!

Natasha, thank you so much for coming in and thank you letting us know how we did, it's very important to us that our clients are taken care of, Happy Holidays!

I took my Corolla to Steve's and they were about to charge me $3,000 in repairs. I decided to take it in to Gary's Automotive (downtown) for a second opinion. He only charged me $150 and said most of the repairs they suggested were unnecessary. We brought in our Nissan Sentra a few weeks prior to this and were charged $2,000 before we later found out we could have had those repairs done for significantly less. From our experience, it seems like they do their best to sell you on unnecessary repairs.

Jenny, it appears there's a serious misunderstanding as to whether our recommendations are 'necessary' or not and I'm truly sorry we failed to properly explain them. If we had done our job and properly communicated the information then you wouldn't have left this review. Just like you can buy a high quality vehicle for $40K or a lower quality one for $20K, you can find the same quality differences in repair and maintenance, this is a self evident fact. This issue here seems to be miscommunication. Please call me at 801-694-7936 and let's review what we recommended and if there's even 1 item we recommended that is truly unnecessary based on industry standards then I will give you $250 for our mistake and the extra trouble it caused you, I look forward to speaking with you soon! - Richard (Owner)

UPDATE: Despite my positive initial experience, I'm changing my five-star review to one star because I did a little research on the repairs that were done to my car and I was overcharged and paid for more repairs than was necessary. They tried to do the same thing when my wife took her car in -- she was told that she had $3000 of urgent repairs, but when we took it to a different shop for another estimate, she only really needed her brake pads changed ($150 at the other shop). The mechanic at Steve's kept trying to lower the price and cut out repairs from the list of things that were originally "urgent" and even asked us what he needed to do to get us to have them work on her car. It felt dishonest and like we were being oversold and overcharged. We had that experience already with my Nissan, spending over $2000 on repairs, most of which weren't urgent as they claimed... glad we dodged the bullet on my wife's car.

Erica, it seems you're convinced you were overcharged and I'm sorry you feel that way. Just as I mentioned below in response to your wife's review, it's a fact that you can buy a higher quality vehicle for $40K or a lower quality one for $20K. Now to say that the person who bought the $40K vehicle overpaid is purely a matter of personal perception and opinion, and this same principle applies to auto repair and maintenance. We recommend higher quality service because our #1 goal is to provide our clients with safe and reliable transportation. A dealer who only provides $20K vehicles may tell you that the $40K one is unnecessary, but does that make the statement true? Maybe to some, but not to the person who wants the features and benefits provided by the higher quality vehicle which the lower quality one doesn't have. We could have done the same job as the 'other shop' for $150 and only changed the brake pads but does that really mean the other recommendations we made (which would have made the vehicle more safe and reliable) are not necessary? It seems they may only be unnecessary to the low quality service provider and the people they convince to see things from only their narrow point of view. I'm absolutely convinced that with an open and honest conversation we can resolve this misunderstanding and possibly earn back your trust so please call me at 801-694-7936, thank you! - Richard (Owner)
