I've taken two vehicles to Steve's over the past few years. I brought and older model Mercedes in for them to fix what turned out to be a vacuum leak. They said that the problem was sediment in the gas tank. They supposedly corrected the issue but in the end broke my gas gauge and I had to fix that issue elsewhere. On another occasion, I brought my old Honda Accord in to pass safety an emissions. They stupidly changed out the transmission fluid (a practice you don't do when a car reaches a certain age) and I completely lost reverse gear. Admittedly, the transmission had difficulties before I brought it in, but at least the car was drive able at the time. Not recommended. I always have to have problems that they create or make worse fixed at another shop.
Peter, I'm truly sorry you feel the way you do about your experience with us and after reviewing the work histories on both your vehicles I feel it's very important to address a couple of your remarks. First of all , if we really broke the gas gauge on your Mercedes we would have repaired it for free, no questions asked, if you had only brought it to our attention two and a half years ago when we worked on the gas tank. Secondly, your Honda's transmission didn't have any 4th gear when you brought it into the shop 7 months ago, which means it was already in failure and needed to be replaced. Furthermore, the mechanic who told you transmission fluid shouldn't be changed when a car reaches a certain age left out many key facts that belong to that conversation and his erroneous statement needlessly made you feel worse about the situation. I don't blame you for feeling frustrated because I know I would too, even so, it's not too late to resolve your concerns. Please call me at 801-694-7936. - Richard (Owner/Manager)
