5 months ago, I took my '06 Saturn Ion to Steve's Automotive Specialists to fix a leak in my fuel line. The moment I walked in, I felt like they say someone they could take advantage of and did take advantage of her. Once they got my car on their rack and told me what was wrong, they refused to let me take it anywhere to shop around. They charged me over $800 to replace a fuel pump. After further research, I found that other automotive repair shops would have done it for $400. I am not getting even worse gas mileage in my car than I was when I had the leak. I absolutely feel like Mike took advantage of me and ripped me off. I would not recommend this place to anyone, even my worst enemy. This place is dishonest and will rip you off. And I found out the fuel pump was under recall and should have been replaced for free. Tiffani at the front desk was really nice to me.
Celest, I'm truly sorry you feel we ripped you off, however, when I fully investigated your visit and spoke with you personally on the phone several months ago I was unable to substantiate any of your claims. I found the average price for a fuel pump on your Saturn runs between $628 and $809 (before tax), the difference being the quality of the fuel pump installed. At that time I offered you a 100% free diagnosis to evaluate your Saturn's gas mileage and that offer still stands. Finally, we notify clients of recalls all the time and certainly would have done so in your case had we been aware of it. The good news is that if your fuel pump is in fact covered under an active recall you can file a claim for reimbursement by calling Saturn at 1-800-972-8876, option 3. It seems that most of this if not all is the result of a misunderstanding and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to resolve it so please call me immediately at 801-694-7936. - Richard (Owner/Manager)
