Nice repair shop. They listened to what I had to say. They thoroughly checked out my truck, let me fix my immediate problem and gave me solutions to fix some minor problems in the future. They were quick and fair in their prices and they stuck with the price I was quoted before they started.

Lynn, it sounds like you had a great experience and that's exactly what we strive for, thank you for allowing us to serve you!

Just wanted you all to be aware of Steve's Automotive specialists in clearfield and the AWFUL Service we recieved. A few weeks ago we brought our Van over to Steve's automotive as we usually use they use them for oil changes, tires and other things that we needed to have done with not only mine and Paul's car but the kids cars also. When we brought in our van we had the check engine light going on and off and 2 service codes come up for crankshaft sensor needs replaced. When we brought it to Steve's the Mexhanic said he knew exactly what the problem was and that he could fix it. After them having it for over a week to get the part in and paying a little over $730 just for us to drive it out of their parking lot when the check engine light came back on. Then when we brang it in the first time we had no issues with any gas smell until after the initial fixing of the car. After speaking with them again and bringing in our Van again to have them look at it the mechanic stated it needs a new computer and that what he thought was the problem must not have been and that is over $1800. Then when we bring up the gas smell it in we had no issues with any gas smell until he told us that that's a separate issue and that would cost us Over $700. We had told him that he said the 1st time that he had the problem fixed which in fact it was not. Then hes adding all these other things and now that cost is way more than what my van is worth. Just wanted everyone to be aware that we Love to support local small businesses but will not be supporting them anymore. They are not trustworthy at all and Try to take advantage of people who do not have much mechanical knowledge. We also reported to the Better Business Bureau and left a review for them on their website Service: Auto engine diagnostic

Robyn, we're so sorry for how frustrated this recent visit has made you and the truth is we don't blame you. Over time vehicles have become increasingly more complex and costly to repair and although we can't change that what we can do is more clearly communicate the repair process so you know what to expect, and it looks like we didn't do a great job at that on this visit. You and family have been great clients and we don't want to lose you because of this one incident. It was our responsibility to help you through the repair process and somewhere in that process we lost your confidence. We hope the fact that we refunded all of the labor you paid for this repair proves that we care more about earning your trust and confidence than taking your money. If you'd be willing to give us one more chance we promise we'll do better, thank you!

Took in my Taurus. They finished at the time promised and it ended up costing less than the original quote. Plus, I got a free Lyft home to wait...and one to pick it up. Nice. Place is clean and well kept. Feels like a hospital for cars. Price seemed more than reasonable for the work done. Services: Exhaust, Oil change, Steering & suspension repair, Air & cabin filter replacement, Auto engine tuning, Auto engine diagnostic, Tires, Brakes, Wheel alignment, Battery, Engine repair, General repairs & maintenance

John, thank you for your review, I really like the "hospital for cars"!

I brought my truck in because they had good reviews, and I thought I might avoid the problems of getting suggestions of higher costs things that aren't needed that I sometimes get at chain auto repair places. They did an inspection on my front end and gave me a quote that was 150% to 180% of the quote I got from another place for replacing the front struts. From online research I've done, the things that weren't needed were replacing the coil springs each time with the struts, and a suggestion of oil additives when suggesting an oil change. They were very nice, but I took the truck to another place. Service: General repairs & maintenance

Bret, we appreciate you giving us a chance and we're sorry that it seems you chose low price over quality. We'll have to respectfully disagree regarding whether or not our recommendations are "needed". There are many factors to considered in order to determine whether or not it's wise to replace coils along with struts. As a matter of fact, the reason parts manufacturers began making strut assemblies that come with new coil springs is because many times they're necessary to restore the original performance of your suspension. Regarding oil and fluid additives, we recommend BG products. BG is a world-class company that has specialized in fluid maintenance for decades and through their research they've developed products that make lubricated machinery such as engines and transmission last much, much longer. So, to say those additives aren't "needed" is purely your opinion and isn't backed up by any legitimate research. On the other hand, if someone really doesn't care how long their vehicle lasts then I agree completely that they wouldn't be needed. Please feel to call me if you have any questions and thank you for your feedback! - Richard (Owner) 801-694-7936

I took my car into their shop, after making an appointment, to find out why it was leaking water into the interior of the vehicle on the passenger side of the car. I suspected it was the A/C Duct but did not know. I was told by David, on the phone, that they would put the vehicle on the lift and would blow a blast of air into the drain and see it there was any obstruction. When I arrived after filling out the information about what was happening. I was told that they would not look at it but take it back to the dealer. When a heavy rain came, so did the water, same with the car wash. I read about this type of leak on U-Tube and each example suggest how to check the drains, window, sunroof and A/C. I just needed ,and I was refused the A/C checked. Sad because a good mechanic you can trust is one to continue visiting with automobile problems but they did not give me a chance to find out and I needed my vehicle fixed and possibly future repairs for other vehicles.

Ann after getting more complete details from you at the counter based off what you described it seems unlikely to be related to the A/C system, if it was it would leak anytime the A/C is on not just when it rains or at the car wash. You had also given us the information that the Dealer had done a repair to fix this issue and that the leak has still persisted. The only reason we suggested going to the dealer is that this issue may be under warranty and we don't want to charge you for something that could potentially be free and under warranty. Our goal is to only fix what's needed and to steer you towards the correct repair even if that means us losing out on some work. Feel free to call me anytime to discuss the situation.
