My family took 7 different vehicles here, both personal vehicles and work vehicles, and every single one came back worse off than when it went in. Not worth it to even look at the building, nonetheless bring in a vehicle.

I first brought in my car to have the wheel bearings checked because one of them was humming loudly. I was told that there was a slight noise, but nothing that's too serious and to wait until it gets worse (That and they could only speculate where the noise was coming from). Ok. I then had my dealership look at it shortly after and they mentioned that the right rear wheel bearing was worn out and needed to be replaced. I called Steve's to get a second opinion and they were able to confirm that the back right bearing was in fact worn and should be replaced. I have no idea why they couldn't find this the first time I took it to them. There was also a rattle from the heat shield that I asked them to investigate. Typically, a self-tapping screw or a hose clamp can solve the problem (which is what I did and it is fine now), but they insisted that they lower the exhaust and replace the entire heat shield...for $450. My solution cost $15 total and 20 minutes of my time. This rattle was by no means an emergency, but there are several simple fixes one can do to remedy the issue. This is where the classic line, "Do you want it done? Or do you want it done right" line comes in. I'd wager that if the issue is not a safety issue or a major problem, most people will opt to save $400+ for a solution. They ultimately said that all they can do is what they suggested. Offering to fix a simple issue by charging 30x the price of a simple solution is dishonest and poor customer service. If customers have the funds to drop on issues like mine, good on ya. I do not. I can now use my remaining $435 I didn't spend to just have my brother-in-law give me a hand and treat him to dinner and a beer after (money much better spent). I have no doubt that their quality of work is fine when they actually fix something, and I also feel that most of the employees seem like nice people. Make no mistake, however, they will sell you the solution they deem "best" to net the most profit possible...Hard to trust companies like that.

Jason, I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience because we welcome our all of our client's feedback, both the good and the bad. However, I respectfully disagree with your conclusion that a business is dishonest because they recommend repairing something correctly verses incorrectly. On the contrary, it's much more difficult to tell somebody the truth, something they often don't want to hear, and this course of action requires a great deal of integrity. People who are dishonest will tell you exactly what you want to hear and it's the false sense of comfort that follows which allows them to take advantage of you. Addressing your comment that you don't have the money; whether or not you have the money and whether or not you want to spend it on your vehicle is irrelevant. A professional's responsibility is to clearly communicate the facts regarding the right (or the best) way to do something and then you are absolutely free to do whatever you wish with that information. If there is a professional and legitimate option that would save you money, then of course we'll discuss it with you, otherwise the facts are what they are. I would rather get a 1 star review because we told the truth and recommended a professional repair that to get one because we did sloppy or unprofessional work. Great company to work with, honest and willing to help out. They are very transparent with their prices, and with what services they think your vehicle needs. My car needed new breaks on all four wheels and needed new rotors on my rear wheels. They could have easily upsold me and said I needed two new front rotors, along with X Y and Z of other items that I had to fix. However, they gave me my options gave me their professional advice and allowed me to make an informed decision without pressuring me or lying. They are awesome and definitely a shop I will be going to in the future if I stay in Utah. Thanks again.

I came here based on a recommendation from a family member when my car kept overheating. I gave Steve's Automotive my business throughout the whole process of diagnosing and finally repairing everything from coolant leaks to the head gasket (ouch), but there were some pretty big communication issues over the course of several months that unfortunately make it so I won't be going back. The communication issues included things like calling my phone number thinking it was my dad's (twice), total lack of transparency about the cost of diagnosis, the situation in which their driver was 40 minutes late to pick me up and shop's phone number wouldn't connect me to anybody because they closed while I was still waiting for a ride, etc. The final straw for me was when the mechanic I talked to over the phone set an appointment for me for 8am one morning for an air conditioning repair. Upon dropping off my car at the designated time, I asked if their driver was available to take me somewhere so I could bum around for the couple hours it would take to do the repair. The mechanic's eyebrows shot up and he said, "Well, we can't get to the repair until tomorrow. We have other vehicles we need to work on before we can get to yours, and that will take all day." I was very confused and flustered that he would schedule me for an APPOINTMENT at eight o'clock in the morning (I am NOT a morning person) if they couldn't work on my car at that time of the appointment. I tried to remain polite in spite of my frustration and asked if I could take their loaner vehicle since I still had to go to work that day. He told me the loaner vehicle was already being used by another customer, offered to have their driver take me to work, but then said there was nothing they could do when they learned that my shift starts after they close. I gave them quite a few chances, and unfortunately, my experiences here were slightly more bad than good. I can cope with a hiccup or two when it comes to misunderstandings or lack of communication, but when every single time I bring my vehicle in, it's nothing but... it's time to take my business somewhere else.

Heather, it sounds like things didn't go the way you expected and I'm truly sorry for that because personally I would've been upset also. We take great pride in providing outstanding service to our clients and about 95% of the time we get it right, however, as the percentage implies about 5% of the time things simply don't turn out the way we want. Now this can happen for a variety of reasons and I'm not sure why there seems to have been so many miscommunications between you and our team but I will investigate the matter and find out. Communication is a two-way street and a break down can occur on either side, but regardless of the reason or who may have been at fault, as a team we will address this issue and do whatever it takes to make sure it doesn't happen again. We're committed to providing excellent service and although you won't be coming back to experience the improvement (and I don't blame you), our team will continue to train and strive for 100% client satisfaction. If there were something I could do to restore your trust and confidence in us I'd do it in a heart beat, but it sounds like it's too late for that, so instead I will personally thank you for bringing this to my attention and I do sincerely wish you the best! - Richard (Owner) 801-694-7936
