I brought my truck in because they had good reviews, and I thought I might avoid the problems of getting suggestions of higher costs things that aren't needed that I sometimes get at chain auto repair places. They did an inspection on my front end and gave me a quote that was 150% to 180% of the quote I got from another place for replacing the front struts. From online research I've done, the things that weren't needed were replacing the coil springs each time with the struts, and a suggestion of oil additives when suggesting an oil change. They were very nice, but I took the truck to another place.
Bret, we appreciate you giving us a chance and we're sorry that it seems you chose low price over quality. We'll have to respectfully disagree regarding whether or not our recommendations are "needed". There are many factors to considered in order to determine whether or not it's wise to replace coils along with struts. As a matter of fact, the reason parts manufacturers began making strut assemblies that come with new coil springs is because many times they're necessary to restore the original performance of your suspension. Regarding oil and fluid additives, we recommend BG products. BG is a world-class company that has specialized in fluid maintenance for decades and through their research they've developed products that make lubricated machinery such as engines and transmission last much, much longer. So, to say those additives aren't "needed" is purely your opinion and isn't backed up by any legitimate research. On the other hand, if someone really doesn't care how long their vehicle lasts then I agree completely that they wouldn't be needed.
