Brought my car in for a loud noise while idling and asked if they'd check out why my electric locks weren't working on 2 of my doors as well, they called to let me know that the noise was from my serpentine tensioner and told me it'd be $800. I expressed my concerns about the cost but they said it was essential, so I gave them the go ahead. They failed to mention that $200 of that quote was to diagnose the issue with my door locks. The locks were a minor inconvenience, so if I had any idea it would be that much, I would have asked them to nix the diagnosis and save myself $200 and them a few hours of their time. I've never had a mechanic fail to communicate how much a diagnostic would cost before going through with it, or have the lack of common sense and decency to assume that most people (especially a young broke grad student who's driving an old car like myself) would not want to go through with an expensive diagnostic for something non-essential. Just overall not impressed with such a poor level of communication and failure to break down the cost of all the work they were quoting me for until after I was billed.
Kelsey, we work very hard to avoid miscommunication but the simple truth is that sometimes it still happens. However, when it does there are a lot of things we can do to fix it, did you discuss this with the service advisor who helped you? If not, please call them and they'll help you resolve this. If you already did and don't feel your concern was properly understood please feel free to call me directly at 801-694-7936, thank you! - Richard (Owner)
